New York is where the modern LGBTQ+ rights movement was born. Since Stonewall, New Yorkers have led the way toward a more just future. At a moment when the LGBTQ+ community – especially transgender and nonbinary people – are under attack across the country, New York must do more than hold the line. We must lead.

As governor, Antonio will:

• Require hospital transparency. Antonio supports A.3862/S.3486, which would require hospitals to disclose the full range of services they provide, including gender-affirming care. Kathy Hochul vetoed this bill on December 19, 2025.
• Protect privacy and safeguard personal information. Antonio supports electronic health record segmentation and strong protections around name and sex designation changes so LGBTQ+ New Yorkers can access care, update personal documents, and live their lives without fear of surveillance.
• Repeal outdated and discriminatory laws. Antonio supports repealing laws like New York’s STI discrimination statute, which criminalizes people based on their health status
• Guarantee dignity and safety for TGNCNBI New Yorkers in the criminal justice system. Antonio supports the Gender Identity Respect, Dignity, and Safety Act (S.1049/A.5478), which would require prisons and jails to presumptively house people consistently with their gender identities.
