Progressive powerhouse joins growing coalition rallying behind Delgado’s vision for an affordable, equitable, and people-powered New York
New York, NY — Today, New York Communities for Change (NYCC), one of the state’s most influential grassroots membership organizations, officially endorsed Lieutenant Governor Antonio Delgado for Governor of New York. The endorsement took place outside the New York Stock Exchange; a symbolic backdrop for a campaign focused on taxing the ultra-wealthy, taking on corporate power, and fighting for working people.
Founded in 2010, NYCC has been a driving force in progressive organizing across New York, uniting tenants, workers, and immigrants to win higher wages, affordable housing, and climate justice. The group played a central role in electing Zohran Mamdani as New York City’s next mayor and continues to power people-centered movements in every corner of the state.
“I’m honored to be endorsed by New York Communities for Change — a movement that has never stopped fighting for working people,” said Lieutenant Governor Antonio Delgado. “NYCC organizes, speaks truth to power, and stands up for those too often left out and left behind. This endorsement is about shared purpose and about finally having the courage to tax the rich so we can make housing affordable, child care universal, and wages that actually keep up with the cost of living. I’m proud to stand with NYCC in this fight for a fairer, more livable New York for all.”
“Today, New York Communities for Change members are stepping up to demand new leadership for working people,” said Olivia Leirer, NYCC’s Executive Director. “While Wall Street bankers celebrate record profits, our members are being crushed by the cost-of-living crisis, climate disasters, and a housing system rigged against working people. New Yorkers deserve a governor who fights for them—not one who greenlights Trump-era fossil fuel projects and protects billionaire donors. Antonio Delgado stands with the people. He’s running a bold campaign to tax the ultra-rich, invest in universal childcare, protect our immigrant communities and build a fossil-free future for New York. The choice couldn’t be clearer: corporate politics under Hochul, or people power with Delgado. The people won with Mamdani, whom we supported from the day he launched his campaign. Now we’re ready for Round 2. That’s why today we are proud to stand on the side of justice, progress, and the New York our communities deserve by endorsing Antonio Delgado for Governor.”
NYCC’s endorsement reflects growing momentum behind Delgado’s campaign, which is uniting everyday New Yorkers across the state around a shared vision to make the state affordable, equitable, and just. His campaign centers on tackling the cost-of-living crisis, expanding access to housing, child care, and health care, and ensuring that the wealthiest New Yorkers finally pay their fair share.
