Lieutenant Governor Antonio Delgado is taking his campaign for governor directly to voters, hosting a virtual meet-and-greet last night as part of his grassroots effort to challenge Governor Kathy Hochul in next year’s Democratic primary.
Lieutenant Governor Delgado fielded questions from hundreds of attendees on issues ranging from budget cuts and health care to housing policy. He promised that, if elected, he would push for higher taxes on the wealthy to reinvest in health care, housing, and social programs.
“The difference in my campaign is that it’s about community, not corporate power,” Delgado told voters. He criticized what he called a political system too focused on power and “triangulating,” rather than serving the people.
