For The Many Endorses Antonio Delgado for Governor

Longstanding progressive organization backs Delgado’s people-first vision for healthcare and affordability

New York, NY — Today, grassroots organization For the Many endorsed Antonio Delgado for Governor of New York, a pivotal sign of growing progressive support for the lieutenant governor’s bid against Gov. Kathy Hochul in the Democratic primary. For the Many’s endorsement comes as Delgado continues to embrace bold policy ideas to address the affordability crisis, prioritizing New York’s working families over billionaires and corporate elites.

During a press conference at For the Many’s Kingston office, members of the organization and local leaders celebrated Delgado’s candidacy as an opportunity to elect a governor who understands the challenges everyday New Yorkers are facing and is not beholden to the donor class. Delgado, who previously represented parts of the Mid-Hudson Valley in Congress, has come out in support of all of For the Many’s key priorities, including taxing the rich, expanding rent stabilization upstate, getting rid of monopoly utility Central Hudson, stopping state law enforcement from collaborating with ICE, and more.

“New Yorkers are fed up with a system that has allowed rents, utility bills, and corporate profits to soar to unimaginable levels while wages lag and public services get slashed,” said Jonathan Bix, Executive Director of For the Many. “We don’t want more crises; we want solutions. And we’re organizing to elect candidates who will pursue them, like Antonio Delgado. For the Many is proud to endorse Lt. Gov. Delgado, who understands that we need to pass an agenda that works for all 20 million New Yorkers, not the 100 or so billionaires who live here part-time.”

For over a decade, For the Many has organized communities across the Hudson Valley to transform the political landscape of the region and defeat entrenched corporate incumbents who refuse to prioritize working class issues. The organization has won critical victories to protect rent stabilization, expand tenant protections, defend immigrant New Yorkers against deportation, and take meaningful action to address the climate crisis. The endorsement of Delgado signals a commitment to building long-term power and influence at all levels of state government.

“I’m honored to earn the endorsement of For the Many — an organization that has spent years organizing and winning real fights right here at home in the Hudson Valley,” said Lieutenant Governor Antonio Delgado. “They understand something fundamental: the affordability crisis we’re living through is the result of political choices. Whether it’s housing, utilities, or taxes, New Yorkers deserve leadership that puts people before profit and working people before the wealthy few. I’m proud to stand alongside them as we fight for a New York that works for the many.”

Delgado affirmed his commitment to policies that would improve life for millions of New Yorkers, including passing the REST Act to expand rent stabilization statewide; taxing the rich to fund public services from schools to transit to childcare; establishing public power through the Hudson Valley Power Authority; and prohibiting state law enforcement’s collaboration with ICE by passing the New York for All Act. All are campaigns that For the Many has been actively organizing and will continue to prioritize in the lead-up to the June primary.

For the Many’s endorsement underscores the broader shift happening in statewide politics, with many upstate regions previously considered “purple” districts becoming bastions of progressive power. The organization played a significant role in defeating a 27-year corporate incumbent to elect democratic socialist Sarahana Shrestha to the State Assembly and has been at the helm of growing tenant movements in Newburgh, Poughkeepsie, and parts of Columbia County. All twenty of the candidates For the Many endorsed in 2025 won their races, and the organization remains committed to electing statewide officials who support working class priorities and respond to local conditions.

“As local legislators, there is only so much we can do to address the complex crises our communities are facing without the support of a governor who also prioritizes working people,” said Kingston Common Council Alderwoman Michele Hirsch. “Instead of re-electing someone who takes money from the same real estate interests fighting to end tenant protections in cities like mine, we have the opportunity to elect Antonio Delgado for Governor—someone who sees the affordability crisis for what it is and supports real solutions to keep people housed, healthy, and safe. I’m proud to endorse Delgado for NY.”

“Antonio Delgado shares our vision of a New York that works for all of us because he understands the cost of the current system,” said Bix. “Our endorsement is on behalf of the tenants, workers, and families that have been doing the hard work of organizing to shift the balance of power in our region and our state. We will keep organizing, and we will win the future we deserve.”
