Delgado risking political career to speak truth
Gov. Kathy Hochul asked then-Congressman Antonio Delgado to be her lieutenant governor in 2022. At the time, Hochul assured Delgado that he would have an active executive role. However, Delgado remained backstage until his recent announcement that he would not seek re-election but would instead run for governor. In Columbia County in August, Delgado presented the concerns for the state and the country that prompted him to oppose Hochul.

That lifeline is unraveling.
Since Gov. Kathy Hochul handed control of CDPAP to a private equity-backed corporation called Public Partnerships LLC (PPL), older and disabled New Yorkers are losing access to the care they need to live with dignity. Tens of thousands of caregivers — overwhelmingly women, immigrants and low-income workers — have been unpaid or underpaid. Entire families are being thrown into crisis, and upstate communities are being hit the hardest.
