Lt. Gov. Delgado slams Hochul’s home care overhaul
Lieutenant Governor Antonio Delgado publicly criticized Governor Kathy Hochul’s administration for its handling of a major Medicaid home care program, according to the Times Union. Speaking at a rally, Delgado called the shift to a private contractor a “failure of leadership” and said he hadn’t spoken to Hochul in months. The state’s transition to Public Partnerships has been plagued by payment issues, fraud allegations, and user frustration. Delgado, who plans to challenge Hochul in 2026, said the new system harms workers and vulnerable patients and lacks transparency.Hochul’s team defended the overhaul as a move to prevent fraud and cut waste. Lawmakers remain skeptical, with a legislative hearing set for August and a class-action lawsuit pending settlement.
